For, with a country as with a person, “what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” There is no Negro problem. There is no Southern problem. There is no Northern problem. There is only an American problem.
Today’s outcome is a reminder that we all have a stake in our country’s future, and a say in the direction we choose.
Too Little, Too Late
I’ve had a knee injury lasting nearly four weeks now. I’m getting the result for the MRI this afternoon and will learn the severity of it. The Malibu Marathon I am running is on the 13th, just two and a half weeks from now. Will I have enough time to get back on track to finish it? I haven’t gone for a run in over two weeks, and was faced with immediate pain when I started. It hurts much less now, but I haven’t exercised so I can’t be sure that it is getting much better.
I’ve needed time to heal these past few days but also have been growing very impatient. I haven’t gotten my way and want to continue moving forward but can’t. Am I putting in all this work for nothing? Will I eventually have to realize that there was no positive outcome in sight?
Not sure. But I’ve updated my iPhone with new songs, got rid of some old ones. Going on a short workout downstairs now, but I might be tempted to finish it off with a run. Why not? My treatment is coming.
Its all facade here. That’s what intrigues me about the city of Los Angeles, the facadeness of it all.
